Windy Boy Grid-Tie Inverters from SMA!
Just like their line of Sunny Boy grid-tie inverters for use with solar modules, the SMA Windy Boy will allow you to connect a wind turbine directly to the utility grid (with their prior approval of course) without batteries. The power your wind generator produces is either used directly by your AC loads or, if you have an excess of power, it is sold back to the utility company which turns your kilo-watt meter backwards. The models that will be available have the same specifications as the present line of Sunny Boy inverters so a wind turbine with high DC output voltage is required. Several companies are currently working on wind turbines specifically designed for use with these inverters.
